Public Comments School Board
Speaking tonight as TVEA President, I would like to also congratulate the TVEA recognized students from the Temecula Holiday Parade. Also, a big shout out to the nominating teachers who devoted their Friday night to supporting the deserving students. Finally great work by our TVEA Organizing Committee led by Melissa Young. We look forward to our 2nd Annual Fun 2B Fit Event in early March. I would like to thank Superintendent Ritter and his office for their support of publicizing that event last year and pledging to do so again this year.
Credit goes to the TVUSD and TVEA Bargaining teams for a very productive session last Thursday resulting in a Tentative Agreement. The early feedback we have received from membership has been positive and our leadership will be strongly encouraging a YES vote.
I would also like to credit the school board for their leadership in providing budget direction to TVUSD and facilitating an expected completion to 2015-16 negotiations. This was a challenging last few months for all involved. Unexpected obstacles created a prolonged, stressful process which took its toll at times. TVEA believes that with continued communication between TVEA and district leaders through structures such as the proposed Ad Hoc Budget Committee and the continuing Superintendent’s Council both parties can collaboratively look forward to a positive future rather than be mired in prolonged and taxing negotiation struggles.
Finally, on behalf of TVEA I would like to welcome Assistant Superintendent of HRD Raymond Johnson. It was nice to have you in the room for negotiations at the TVEA office last Thursday. You are undefeated at 1-0, untied, and unscored upon in TVUSD /TVEA negotiations success! Keep up the good work!
