STATE COUNCIL ELECTION TIMELINE

March 15: Announcement of Election.
March 29: Declaration of Candidacy deadline, due no later than 5:00 pm at the TVEA Office.
(Postmarked date not accepted).
April 8-17: Candidate campaigning.
April 17: Rep. Council Agenda providing time for candidates to speak.
April  18-24: Voting for members only at individual sites. Polls close at 4:00 pm.
April 24:Site leaders submit sealed ballots and voter roster/sign in sheets to the TVEA office between
7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
April 24: Election Committee counts ballots. All candidates notified by phone of the election results.
April 25:  Site Leaders post election results at site.
May 6:

Last day to contest election results. May 25: Last day to contest run-off election results

OPEN POSITIONS 
Second Vice President Term:
July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2015
Duties of the Second Vice President:
1. Serve as assistant to the President and First Vice President in all duties of the President;
2. Be responsible for the information and distribution of the Association’s calendar of activities; and
4. Serve as coordinator of committee activities at the direction of the President.

CANDIDATE: JEFF KINGSBERG
Candidate Statement:
I have taught in the TVUSD since 1987 and have vast experience in TVEA as a past Site Leader, High School Area Rep and Secretary, while currently serving as Second Vice President.  I look forward to continuing representing our membership by being a strong advocate for all teachers.

Treasurer
Term: July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2015
Duties of the Treasurer:
1. Receive all funds belonging to the Association and be responsible for their safekeeping and accounting;
2. Pay out such funds upon orders of the President;
3. Prepare a written financial report for each regular meeting of the Leadership Council and the Executive Board.
4. Be responsible for an annual audit of the books of the Association and distribute a summary of this audit to the Leadership Coucil and the Executive Board; and
5. Submit membership and financial reports to CTA, NEA, and other agencies as required by law.

CANDIDATE: BOB ROLLINS
Candidate Statement:
I ask for your continued confidence and support as your TVEA Treasurer. As a past President with over five years experience as treasurer, I have a full and complete understanding of the responsibilities of this position.  Please vote for me, Bob Rollins, to continue as your TVEA Treasurer. CANDIDATE: DAVID CORAM
Candidate Statement:
Greetings TVEA Members, I work at CHS and teach 6/5th Tech Core.  My experience includes 10+ years with the San Diego Marshal, as Director on the local and state boards.  My business/financial experience of 15 years includes business ownership, finance manager/controller, consultant and corporate General Manager.

Lower Elementary Area Rep (K-3rd Grade)
Term: July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2015 Duties:
1. Participate on all Executive Board decisions; and
2. Represent elementary needs at the lower grade levels. 

CANDIDATE: TAMMY IVERSON
Candidate Statement:
I am excited for the opportunity to run for the position of Primary Elementary Area Rep.  I am currently on the Leadership team at LaVorgna and serve as a TVEA rep for our site.  I would appreciate your vote of confidence that I will represent your voice.

High School Area Rep
Term: July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2015
Duties:
1. Participate on all Executive Board decisions; and
2. Represent middle school needs.

CANDIDATE: CHAD YATES
Candidate Statement:
I would like to continue my service as the High School Area Representative. I am passionate about helping high school teachers be the best they can be.  It is an honor to represent TVEA teachers.  I thank you for your support.

Special Interest Area Rep
Term: July 1, 2013 - June 30,2015
Duties:
1. Participate on all Executive Board decisions; and
2. Represent special interest group (Counselors, RSP, SDC, Nurses, Psychologist, ROTC)  needs.

CANDIDATE: KAREN HOGAN
Candidate Statement:
I'm Karen Hogan and I would like to continue my Special Interest Area Rep position in TVEA. I've worked as a special educator in the district for 15 years and am committed to supporting special educators and special interest members and their students.

NEA LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE 
Term: May 1, 2013 - April 30, 2014
Duties:
1. Each delegate will attend the NEA Representative Assembly Orientation at the San Bernadino RRC on May 22
2. Each delegate shall attend all business meetins of the RA.
3. Each delegate is strongly encouraged to attend NEA Budget Committee hearings, Resolutions Committee hearlings, Bylaw Committee hearings, etc.
4. Each delegate shall take into consideration the local chpater and its goals & objectives when voting.
5. Each delegate will be expected to sit with his/her Service Center Council delegation on the RA floor or to inform the appropriate person where he/she will be seated.  This is to ensure communication regarding RA business and/or personal emergency information of concern to the delegate, as well as to verify attendance.
6. Each delegate will give a report of the NEA RA Convention at one of the Fall Leadership Council meetings.
7. Delegates will take turns sharing important NEA news at the monthly Leadership Council meetings.
8. It is the responsibility of local NEA delegates to stay on top of NEA news, elections, initiatives, and be a resource to TVEA throughout their 1 year term.
