2nd Vice President

The last few years in educations have been challenging. As budgets decreased, so did resources, while expectations heightened. As the weight of the word "proficiency" takes a stronger hold on how we are viewed, re-elect me as Vice President and keep an experienced voice at the table. VES Bargaining Chair.

I ask for your vote and continued confidence as TVEA Treasurer.  Over the past many years as your treasurer, I have always worked to keep our association in a sound fiscal position. I ask for your re-electing vote as TVEA Treasurer. Thank you for your continued support.

I am currently serving in this position and would like the opportunity to continue to represent the needs and concerns of K-3 teachers.  I would like to continue working on the job of revising and reducing some of the elementary district assessments.

High School Area Rep

I am running for High School Area Representative of TVEA. I have served as Union Representative, Vision Team Member, and GATE Coordinator.  I grew up in Mammoth, attended UCSD, and then UCSB.  I firmly believe that the union is a positive tool to protect and help Temecula Teachers.

Special Interest Area Rep
Heather Polk
I have enjoyed being the Special Interest Area Rep this last term and would like the opportunity to continue.  We are in the process of negotiating long-over-due contract language for all the groups.  I started this endeavor almost two years ago and I want to see this through.

February 8:  Announcement of Election.  
February 18: Declaration of Candidacy deadline, due no later than 5:00 pm at the TVEA Office.
(Postmarked date not accepted).
Feb. 21 - Mar. 9: Candidate campaigning.
March 9: Rep. Council Agenda providing time for candidates to speak.
March 10-16: Balloting for members only at individual sites. Polls close at 4:00 pm.
March 16:Site leaders submit sealed ballots and voter roster/sign in sheets to the TVEA office between
7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
March 16:  Election Committee counts ballots. All candidates notified by phone of the election results.
Results posted on Groupwise.
March 17:  Site Leaders post election results at site. 
April 12-14:Run-Off Voting *If necessary
April 15: Site Leaders post run-off election results at site.
April 14: Last day to contest election results. May 27: Last day to contest run-off election results

Second Vice President
Term:  July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2013
Duties of the Second Vice President:
1. Serve as assistant to the President and First Vice President in all duties of the President;
2. Assume the duties of the President in the absence of the President and First Vice President;
3. Be responsible for the information and distribution of the Association’s calendar of activities; and
4. Serve as coordinator of committee activities at the direction of the President.

Term:  July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2013
Duties of the Treasurer:
1. Receive all funds belonging to the Association and be responsible for their safekeeping and accounting;
2. Pay out such funds upon orders of the President;
3. Prepare a written financial report for each regular meeting of the Leadership Council;
4. Be responsible for an annual audit of the books of the Association and distribute a summary of this audit to the Leadership Council; and
5. Submit membership and financial reports to CTA, NEA and other agencies as required by law.

2. Serve on the Leadership Council as a non-voting member
3. Represent elementary needs at the K-3 grade levels

If you ever have to file for Workers compensation it is imperative that you fill out a Pre-Designation Form stating what doctor you would like to visit. If you do not do this you will be required to see a district doctor.

You may use this simplified 1 page form from the California Labor Federation. Dr. Designation Form.

Principal Recognition Ceremony (9/09)

Teachers across the district participated in TVEA’s survey of principals last spring, and those results identified outstanding administrators in Temecula. These principals were rated highly (above a 3.0) by certificated staff, and their campus surveys had a high participation rate (80% or more).

On September 14, at Margarita Middle School’s Auditorium, TVEA will be honoring these 9 exceptional educational leaders.
